Now, I'm going to give people this: I do breath heavy regularly (because of my diminished lung capacity). I sometimes wince seemingly from out of nowhere (because I'm having a contraction). I walk very, well, bizarrely (because of the extra weight). And I have bags under my eyes (because I don't sleep very well).
Okay, maybe I do look ready to pop. But I'm enjoying the process of growing a baby in the meantime!

I'm always amazed at the things it's suddenly okay to say to a woman just because she's pregnant:) But I swear to you, when I'm pregnant, if a stranger ever tried to touch my stomach I will cut their hand off.
You enjoy away, mommy! I think you look so cute! And the shot from the bottom was very brave. :)
I don't think you look *that* big. You just look like a beautiful pregnant woman!
Personally for 35 weeks I think you look great! I don't think you are that big..
People just don't know what to say and when to say it
You look totally cute. I really think people are so so not funny when they say things like that, but you have to just laugh anyways. I remember someone (family, even, but one who's never had a child) say, "Wow! You are ready to pop anyday!" I was half way through my pregnancy, with CARSON! Ugh. I was ticked. I just said, "Um, pregnant! The baby has to fit in there somewhere!" You look cute. And 35 weeks!? I didn't realize you were so close to being done!
Seriously, I think you look great! Pregnant....yes. As big as a whale....totally not!
You look great!! Keep enjoying the journey.
Fun for you! However, I don't envy you.
I think you look terrific Erin...you are definitely all baby! I hope these next few weeks go well for you!
If it makes you feel any better I had people who were surprised to find out I was pregnant at 36, 37, 38 and 40 weeks. Some people still are surprised that I had a baby. When I went to school with the baby they actually asked if I had a baby.
People are silly and take it as such. If you are happy and feel great that is all that matters, but I think you look great!
You look adorable!! Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
(Besides people who tell a pregnant lady that she looks ready to pop deserve to be popped in the mouth.)
Ready to pop? I don't think so! You barely look pregnant. I will agree that considering how thin you are to start...you do look pregnant. Which is code for ADORABLE!
People really should be more considerate when talking to pregnant women. Seriously! How rude!
Hope all is well!
Isn't it incredible? I'm excited for you. You're almost there! Keep on truckin'. I love the "looking up" angle! It's interesting to see what my kids must have seen through my last pregnancy.
Bon courage!
I laughed so hard when I saw the title of your post because my son, Noah, loves to say "She's as big as a whale" at the most inopportune moments (like at church, in the grocery store, at school) and I can't help but think he is talking about me.
and I am not pregnant.
Soooo not as funny then.
By the way, I think you look AMAZING! At 35 weeks with both my children I had to dress shop at the local tent factory!
You look great!!! I'm so excited for you!!!
I can't believe people actually tell women the look like they're about to pop. It just doesn't sound nice, even if it's said with empathy.
You look great, Erin. You carry very small! And high! And from the front you don't look pregnant AT ALL!!
You're really nearing the finish line! That's so exciting. I wonder what your most recent thoughts are on natural or "unnatural". Ha. As if you aren't getting the baby out just because you have anesthesia!
Awww, I love pregnant bellies (on other people), on me it comes with the aches and pains (hee, hee) but I love them on other people. This couple in our ward brought their baby to church on Sunday and I wanted to hold him so bad. I had to resist the urge to ask because I don't know them very well. Just think in a month you get to hold your very own tiny and make me jealous.
Erin, it seems like you are always post things about a month before I'm ready to!! For example the hypnobirthing questions you asked a few weeks ago. I asked about it today.
And here you are bringing up another post that I'll probably post in a few months from now when I'm getting similar comments.
Here's the thing that I'm curious about: When you are so obviously pregnant & people say things like "You look like you're ready to pop." Are you glad to hear it, or would you rather people say things like, "You're 35 weeks? You're so much smaller than I was when I was 35 weeks!" Or something like that?
Gotta love the comments. One of my friends told me I looked as big as a cow with my 4th boy - I promptly kicked him:) To this day he still says he is sorry! I think you look beautiful and growing a baby is hard work. Hopefully you are taking the time to eat the extra snacks - I was so bad about justifying eating ice cream at 3 am:)
WHen my wife was pregnant, I was always shocked at how people's filters just turned off around her. They would say the most outrageous and inappropriate things, just like you mention here. Good luck enduring the rude/crazy/inappropriateness
I think you look GREAT! You look like you are sticking straight out - but I would never compare you to a whale!
I don't know you, and I'm new to your blog, but I think you look wonderful. You look like a normal healthy woman with a basketball in her shirt. That's what pregnancy is supposed to look like. I gained so much weight with my kids I just looked morbidly obese.
You look great! I am almost 30 weeks now and when I tell people I am not due until July the common response I get it, "are you sure there is only one in there?" so yeah, I feel for you.
But seriously you look great! Just all belly.
Erin I think you look great! I love the shots from the top and the bottom!!
Hope you continue to feel well despite lack of sleep and a few contrations - enjoy every moment:D
What the Heck? You don't look big to me!! Good for you for brushing off those comments! Next time say something like, "I am, thankyou for taking the boys for the afternoon!" or "Yes, I am so uncomfortable, thanks for bringing dinner by later!"
You are adorable!
Aw, she's sitting all out in front. Cuuuuuute! It looks like you just squished her up and stuffed her under your shirt. I've been lucky... most people just tell me my belly is "so cute" or some such. And if it makes you feel any better, I'm gaining about 5 lbs a week, so I really AM huge. :(
I think you look very cute! Of course at this point, I think most pregnant women are ready to pop but it is good that you are enjoying the process...to many stop enjoying it towards the end and I think that that is my favorite part...and besides, the baby is much easier to take care of in the tummy then out - Good Luck in the coming weeks!
You look great. I've never been pregnant but even I know that you never discuss a pregnant woman's size. You never say she looks ready to pop, you never say that she barely looks pregnant at all (because what if she's worried that her baby is too small?) and you never, never, ask a woman if she's pregnant. Not even if you think she looks like she's about 39 1/2 weeks.
I'm pleased to report you do NOT look like a whale's twin. You look like a beautiful pregnant mommy.
Lack of sleep? I'm NOT pregnant and I still don't get all the sleep I need. *SIGH*
You look beautiful Erin! I'm more of the whale type.
We are so close!!! Yahoo!
When you REALLY look like a whale people say this ..."You don't look as big as I thought you'd look" or "You don't look that bad"...
These are the comments that I had when I was pregnant with my twins ... a 5 lb and a 6 lb baby in a 5'2" body ... I was a whale ... You look fantastic!!
I personally don't care what people say to me when I am pregnant (because most of those comments come from my dad from the time I start showing until the time the baby comes out. You know how he is) but I can NOT stand people touching my belly. Other than my husband, anyone else better ask permission first!!
Oh and you look great! Can't wait to see pics of your little girl!
Ahh, the memories of not being able to breathe or sleep or be comfortable for more than five minutes. Good thing those cute little babies are worth it!
PS. I'm glad I'm not the only one who references SpongeBob episodes on their blog.
Yes, do enjoy the process of growing a baby. It is a treasure, to be sure. (And you look great at 35 weeks!)
YAY! It's getting so close! Good luck!
Loooooooooooove the view from the bottom!!! You're hilarious!
Here I am at 36 weeks and I can't walk around my building without at least 1 person tell me I look like I'm about to pop. The next person that says that to me might get popped! Hang in there girlfriend.
Check out my blog for my most recent belly pic.
Thanks for the cute pictures. I hope I look that dang good in a couple of months. I still have 4 months and I'm feeling BIG and ROUND already!! BTW. We are driving down to CA the end of this month, if you are around we would love to stop by for a quick visit and say hi. I'm not sure what days we are driving down and back...but I will let you know and if it works to stop and say hi...I would love to see you guys.
