No Baby...Yet

Last night, between 7:30 and 10:30, I had between 15-17 contractions an hour. I drank a glass of water and lay/laid/lied (I'll never remember which one to use) on my left side. It didn't help. I knew it wasn't real labor because they were really irregular and never got stronger. Still, I felt a little nervous. I'm not even officially 36 weeks until tomorrow. Today I'm back to having the usual 6-8 an hour, and I'm lightheaded again. Oh well - at least I had five days where I felt really good and got a lot done. I wouldn't mind this baby coming early, but not extra-hospital-stay early.

Have you made any blog friends who are so sincere and kind that you just really, really like them even though you have never met? I have a few of those, one being Francesca of Mayhem and Moxie. She lives in San Francisco, as does Christian's sister, and Francesca told me if I ever get the chance to go visit Christian's sister to let her know and we'll go out to dinner together. She is so great (I'm sure her blog partner, Kacey, is great too; we've just never had e-mail conversations). Anyway, I found out yesterday that I won a contest on their blog: a $150 gift certificate to Moody Mamas designer maternity clothes! I am so excited to potentially look stylish for the last few weeks of my pregnancy! Now, let's see which arrives first - the outfit I choose or the baby...

I have a couple of friends I have been wanting to brag about on my blog, and I am finally taking the opportunity. My friend Christie has a blog called A Lemon Squeezy Home where she does tutorials on some of the cutest things I have ever seen (and her post from today is one of the cutest things I have ever read). She also has an etsy shop and I want to buy everything. I wish when we lived next door to each other I could have gleaned a little bit of her talent from her brain and used it to my advantage.

And my friend Melissa has an etsy shop called Desert Rain Designs. She makes the coolest jewelry out of rocks and precious stones that are amazing. I think I have mentioned that our family loves to rock hound - I should post a picture of our rock garden in our back yard. Anyway, I lust over her jewelry. My favorite is the citrine earrings. I'm tempted to name our girl Citrine (or Sandrine, like Rachel on Friends wanted to name her daughter) (but that's not going to happen, so don't worry).
~~~~~~~~~~
And last, but certainly not least: have you heard of Nie Nie? If you have, then you know of her amazing journey and uplifting message. If you haven't, well then, you HAVE to watch this. It is worth every single minute. (I tried to embed it on my blog, but it is widescreen so the right 1/3 cuts off. Just click on the "this" to go to YouTube and watch it. Then come back and tell me if you cried or got misty-eyed at all.)
I love Francesca. I've been trying to convince her to come to the CBC.
Erin, you are fantastic. (Just wanted to put that out there.) (Even though everyone knows that already.)
Have a great day!
Love the NieNie video. It is amazing, as is she.
And I remember Francesca. Last time I was at her blog (admittedly a long time ago) was when it was 3 Bay-B chicks. She was cute. I added their blog to my reader again.
Loved that video...it totally caused me to get a little misty. Hope your outfit comes fast so you can wear it a couple of times!
Thanks for the plug, Erin! You would look totally smashing in those citrine earrings! ;)
Sounds like this baby is anxious to get here! Try to take it easy (yeah right, with two boys and a Primary to run....).
NO BABY YET? You poor thing!
(And non-bloggers never do get the power of blogging friendships. They're huge.)
Hi woman! I know you don't want a preemie (I've been there and done that), so here's a good way to stop contractions like that: Have some Gatorade on hand at all times, and when you start having that many, drink a few glasses (it's a lot, I know) and lie down. My high-risk doctor had me do this when I started having pre-term labor with my son, and it worked like a charm. He said that your electrolytes get out of balance really easily in the last few weeks, and that can cause regular contractions and even labor. Maybe something to try. We don't want her doughy in the middle! ha!
(My word is "NICUs"...how weird is that?)
I feel for you Erin. I have been having false labor for 3 weeks now and I'm officially tired of it. Baby can come now...please.
I know the feeling. I have made many bloggie "friends" and would love to meet them. Unfortunately none of them live even remotely close to me. Anyone out there live in Wisconsin????
Aw Erin, you are so sweet. THANK YOU! I'm glad you liked today's post:).
I'm sorry you had so many contractions! That is crazy. Good luck and I hope you feel better again.
How exciting to get more clothes!
And I love NieNie. I'll have to check out the video when B isn't fussing on my lap:).
Love you!
Erin...thank you so much for sharing. that video was amazing, and yes i did cry. she seems like an amazing woman with an incredible spirit...if only we could all look at our trials like she has seen hers. thanks again!
I got misty-eyed. Thanks for the link to the video.
I hope that baby girl of yours stays put for a while longer to finish cooking. But, fingers crossed for fewer contractions.
I watched N's video this morning and cried. What a trooper.
I will go check out that Etsy shop. I love unique jewelry.
Oh, don't introduce me to etsy!! I've been trying to avoid it for months! :)
As a side note, if you edit the html of the videos, you can make them smaller. A width of 384 and a height of 236 works well. (Make sure you change it towards the beginning of the code AND towards the end. Otherwise it won't work.)
That would be "lay." Lay is past tense, lie is present/future, laid has to have an object. (as my AP English teacher would say, "something has to get laid." *snicker*)
I can't believe you're already so contracty! I thought that gatorade advice was very good. Keep that girl in there just a liiiiittle longer.
I can't wait to watch that Nie Nie video, the connection here can't handle it, so I have to wait till I get home!
My second baby was five weeks early and totally healthy, no extra stay. If you can skip the last month of pregnancy with the same results, I totally recommend it. Soooooo much nicer!
Good luck! I'm looking forward to your baby news.
Those last weeks are hard but it's still easier to be pg than take care of a preemie. You'll be just fine. I can't wait to 'meet' the new addition.
Also, we're going to take the kids rock hounding this summer. Should be all kinds of fun!
I hope that your outfit comes soon so that you can enjoy it a little bit. I LOVED that video. I watched it earlier in the day and definitely got misty eyed. She is very inspirational...I love all the new mormon videos that are out right now!
Isn't it a pain to contract like crazy and have nothing happen? That is exactly what happens to me from about week 30 till I have the baby. And yes, I adore NieNie. I love that video, thanks for linking it, I hadn't seen it yet!
Yes that video of Nie Nie is so inspiring and wonderful.
And I too love Mayhem and Moxie, wonderful ladies on a great blog.
Hopefully the baby cooperates and waits at least a couple more weeks.. but once you are term then go for it! :)
Don't you just love that waiting game at the end of pregnancy, when you're constantly thinking, Is this it or not?
I had a few tricks up my sleeve to help speed things along when I had my babies. Let me know if you want to know the secrets.
And some of dearest, closest friends I've made have come from blogging. If that's the only reason I do it, then it's totally worth it.
I love Nie so much! Wasn't that a beautiful video? Congrats on winning the giveaway!
Good luck with the final countdown. Just remember that no matter how things happen, you still come out of it as a superhero, a wonderwoman, a mother. Really.
Can't wait to hear about the baby! Where has all the time gone?
Best of luck with all the new changes!
