It's Perfect! But... Something is Wrong

I am so stoked.

Over the long weekend, I got a great deal on king-sized sheets from JC Penney. We also found a fantastic deal on craigslist for a complete bedroom set, including a king sized headboard and footboard (and frame), matching dresser drawers with mirror, and a nightstand. After nearly 14 years of marriage, we are so excited to finally have a bedroom set that matches and looks nice!

However, there is just one minor issue...

Oh, isn't that a lovely bedroom set? I love the mirror - we have never had a mirror in our bedroom. Ever. And now my beautiful lamp has a beautiful place to rest.
A picture of the bed and nightstand. So preeeety. But hmmm - something doesn't seem right. Is something a little off?
Um, oh yeah. That's what is wrong.
We are now the proud owners of a king-sized bed frame, but we only own a queen-sized bed. We have been talking about purchasing a king-sized bed for a while now, but when we found the deal on craigslist, we couldn't pass it up. So, we currently have a Huggies diaper box shoved into the space so our bed won't slide around on the frame, and we wait. Wait for a good deal on a bed, wait while we do research to decide what kind of bed we want, wait to see if I win the one that Stephanie from Adventures in Babywearing is giving away right now. (Don't click on the link. I don't want you to win it straight out of my hot little hands.)

My bedroom is so close to being just right. And yet, so far away.

(P.S. Don't you looove my quilt? My mom is a master quilt piecer, and my aunt is a master longarm quilter. I measured the quilt, and after we get a king-sized bed, the quilt will fall about three inches over either side of the bed. That's enough for a quilt, right? Queen-sized quilts are made to fit king-sized beds, right? Sigh.)

That is awesome! We don't have any matching furniture in our bedroom. We don't have a headboard, even though I've been on the hunt for one, our side tables are actually floating shelves from IKEA, and our dresser is my sister's old dresser, that I really want to spruce up.

That's pretty hilarious. I get the feeling of being so excited by a good deal you just have to go for it!

Great set! Isn't it nice to finally have real furniture that matches? I used plastic tubs for my nightstand the first 8 years of marriage.
And maybe you could add another border to the quilt?

I hope you get that king size mattress pronto!! You will never, ever, ever go back to anything smaller again. Good luck!

Beautiful quilt! Such talent!

We use our queen size quilt Justin's grandma made us on our king size bed so I say, Yes, Yes they are. Your bedroom looks very nice.

I am so jealous. I love the bedroom set. I think it is worth having a funny looking bed for a while because it will be really easy to get the mattresses now that you have everything else. Absolutely nothing in my room matches and our room is used as an extra closet most of the time. If we don't know where to put something, into our room it goes. One day I will have a grown up room....

Oh! I have never had a headboard or matching bedroom set. We've been married almost 9 years. Maybe in five more I'll splurge.

I do like that quilt, but you'll love having a king mattress.

My next bedroom set is totally coming from Craigslist, and we live by fancy-schmancy rich people so it will be AWESOME.

I highly recommend a king-size bed. My husband wanted one for years, and I just didn't get why but finally gave in after years on a queen.

Bliss!

Now if we travel and end up on a queen, it's miserable!

Yay! So pretty! We still don't have a bedroom set, but we did get our first headboard a couple years ago. It was VERY exciting!

I love that you have sheets but not a mattress yet. Ha!

So fantastic! It took my about 25 years of marriage to finally get a matching brand new bedroom set.

And as for bed? I am a BELIEVER of the temper-pedic's. LOVE MINE!

Awesome. We got our beloved king-sized mattress from that wholesale place in Logan. I think the brand is "Rest-a-tonic" or something cheesy like that. But it has fabulous individually-wrapped coils and conforms to your body. I'm super picky on beds, and have had numerous pillow-tops and such, and this one is by far my favorite. I don't know if they ship to your neck of the woods, though.

Good luck!

(Oh, this one is not a pillow-top - but way better).

And I don't have any matching furniture anywhere so I'm loving your matchy room.
