Photo Tag, Take Two

With the photo tag I did last week, I got tons of comments saying things like, "Your house is so clean. I could never do this tag." Well, I figured out the truth: the things I was tagged to take pictures of weren't things that were dirty at that moment. It didn't mention taking pictures of:

My living room floor. The couch cushions are off of the couch - very typical. (My kids and I were playing Risk. You know, the made up rules where your cannons shoot each other, and my cannons always seem to lose because Ethan wins every time.)

The kids' play roomThe kitchen counter (which is different from the kitchen sink; however, when I took the picture this time the sink was full). If you click on the picture, you can see syrup from breakfast stuck to the counter. It was 3:00 PM when I took this picture. I did eventually clean the syrup off.My unmade bed. My kids jump on my bed throughout the day. Why would I bother making it when they "ruin" it by jumping on it? Oh, and my bed also becomes the place where I "hang" my almost-dry shirts.
I also got brave and decided to take a picture of me...no makeup and not having done my hair.
So now you know the real me. The next tag just has to ask the right questions!!!

You're so great! Thanks for making us all feel a little better!

It is so nice to know that someone else's home has its good and bad days. I thought when my children got a little older the messes would stop. Just to let you know they have actually gotten worse and the fighting hasn't ended either. It is ironic you are showing pictures of your home since I have already been awake for a number of hours, because I couldn't sleep, and started cleaning my own home.

Maybe I will get brave and show the world someday.

Oh, I just love seeing that other people have messes, too! I always see perfect rooms on everyone's blog posts and I wonder if I'm the only one that at this very moment could stick to her kitchen floor. LOL

Well that makes me feel a little better. But really, all in all it's quite tidy!

I'm slowly learning more about blogging. I'm just reading the blogger help site and trying things out a little bit. It's fun!

I had a great birthday yesterday! Aaron and the kids made me feel so loved! So did my mom who is visiting. I hope your day on the 13th is just as wonderful!

I still wouldn't consider those rooms "dirty". You have visible counter space in the kitchen, no real person ever makes their bed and kids play rooms are supposed to look like a tornado hit them. Nice try. ;0)

Sorry about the double comments. I guess I pushed the button twice.

Not bad. It is always nice to see that other people have messes. Mine can get worse than that, though. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to share my "worst" with the world.

We're in a rental house right now while our house is being built and the kitchen is teeny. I takes about an hour for EVERY surface in it to be covered with dishes, food, and trash. Why don't my kids use the trash can? They know where it is. They know what goes in there. I will never understand.

Still really not messy. You look good with no make up. can totally get away with it. I missed the last tag so I'm off to find it now

You look beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

I am to the point that I tell myself "your home will be clean after the kids are in bed" I know that for those 12 hours, even if we are sleeping most of those hours, that our home is clean. Otherwise I think we would drive ourselves mad. It is like shoveling in a blizzard, useless!

Someone told me that when our kids are grown up and gone we'll miss the messes. I'm not so sure about that.

I agree that there is a difference between messy and dirty.

You have a kid messy home, but it's not dirty!

That's pretty clean still. Those messes are something that you can do a "ten minute" tidy on and everything will look wonderful.

My house takes more of a "2 to 5 hour tidy"

You look good without make up.

Really?! That's messy? I must be a pig and live in a pig sty!!

I have decided that we are much more affected by our own messes, and are really able to overlook everyone else's. :) When my house looks like that (often) I am usually freaking out. But looking at your pictures, I can see that it isn't that bad...a quick tidy up would do the trick. :)

And yes! The little cupcake pops were a hit, especially with the kids. But I noticed my brother eating quite a few of them.

i just call that look "lived in".

You are such a hoot! I got a great laugh out of this post. And thank you-thank you for being "real" with us. Your post made me feel better knowing that I'm not a perfectionist and it's okay!

Yep, still pretty clean, but more like my house--wouldn't take long to straighten up at least! Thanks for sharing!

I have syrup left on my counters too. But the gross thing is that I can't remember the last time I used syrup.

Thank you!!! I was feeling a bit blue after all the organized house pics you had posted before. Thanks for posting pics of your LIVED in home:) Even messy your home is more clean than mine, but I know we have 7 who live here and I should cut myself a break, but alas I do not. Maybe on Tuesday I will;)

Way to make sure we love you for the real you, eh? That's more like it!

Thank you for the pictures.
I feel like I'm fighting a daily battle of cleanliness against the other 10 people that live in my house.

Wow, look at you with 28 comments. You're really getting all blog-community now!
I agree that your house looks pretty good, all in all. But it did make me feel better.

Now that looks more like my house. At the moment there are no clean bowls because they are all dirty in the sink. I have to get it done since I have been commissioned to make a birthday cake for tomorrow. And I have Daisy meeting tomorrow. And my husband is desperate for me to get the kitchen clean. Not to mention the 10 billion other things that I have to get done TOMORROW! I'm already tired.

That is keeping it real. I love that. It looks like normal decor to me. And you are simply stunning. I see you all over the place so I wanted to say hi we kick it with the same bloghood.

Bahahaha! You're hilarious... and look pretty darn good without make-up

Kathy P said...

That looks just like my house. With the exception of the kitchen counter which I would deem as CLEAN compared to mine most days. The real you seems pretty cool. :)

You've inspired me to post a pic of one of my messy rooms that I have been looking at for a long time and wondered if I just post it b/c I just refuse to pick it up!

Your house looks like so much fun! Your kids must really love it!

You look great!

Christine said...

Aw, what a cute attempt to make it look like your house isn't actually that clean.
I love how your house is so un-cluttered! That way it looks clean even when there's toys on the floor.

Brigitte Ballard said...

Wow... are you OCD like me? Your house is definately clean.

Plus... you look like you did the last time I saw you! I am impressed.

Seriously not kidding your dirty is like my clean. I live a sad sad life.
