The Twelve Days of Christmas

Last year, my friend Desta came up with the brilliant idea of doing the 12 days of Christmas on her blog. I decided to play along, because it sounded like so much fun. (P.S. I haven't been blogging for very long, so I have no idea whether other people do this on a regular basis, or if it is a new idea to most of you.) I had so much fun last year, I have decided to do it again this year. I am going to post a few links of both mine and Desta's days of Christmas, and if you think it might be fun for you, I invite you to play along (you would begin Dec 13, and post once a day through Dec 24):

Desta's Second Day of Christmas
My Second Day of Christmas

Desta's Sixth Day of Christmas
My Seventh Day of Christmas

Desta's Tenth Day of Christmas
My Twelfth Day of Christmas

You're probably not going to look at all six of these, even though they are all really cool. So if you only look at two, look at Desta's sixth day, and my seventh or twelfth day. As you can see, we both exploited the song in completely different ways. She made each day correspond with the number (Guitar Hero 3; Five frantic faces); mine all kind of sounded like the first day of Christmas, in that it was a rhyming poem (On the first day of Christmas I sat down in my chair to blog about excitement in the air.)

Anyway, if you want to participate, I have made the world's ugliest button that you can post on your blog. Actually, what happened was that I spent over an hour trying to make something cute. I couldn't get it down to button size, and it kept acting like it was a slide show, even thought it wasn't. A few tears later, and I found something really dumb and easy in Google to create a button. So, if anyone wants to participate, and you want to create a cool button, you will get accolades, praise, and most importantly, a huge shout-out from me. And if you really want to play, let me know and I will create a link to your blog on the sidebar (since I don't do Mr. Linky). And, of course, you don't have to participate - if it is just too hard at Christmas time, you can simply have fun reading what I write!

I'm totally laughing my butt off at your ugliest button ever. (sorry) I love it though. I don't know if I can come up with stuff and I'm afraid if I start I won't be able to finish. The story of my life.

This is a good idea. I like your ugly button! Keepin' it simple. It can be like a symbol of how we should keep Christmas simple and not try to make it huge and ostentatious.

Sadly, though, I don't think I will play along, as I've had enough daily posting for the next forever.

I would probably miss a day. Although... I MIGHT come up with my own 12 days of Christmas song.

Great idea--I'll have to think more about what I'd do:)

How odd is it that I was just thinking about this same thing last night and this morning. I was going to opt out this year but now I think I might have to count myself in. Time will tell. I thought doing an advent calendar with 25 Christmas activities (a la Deneal last year) would be enough. Time will tell!

Wow that looks too complicated for me. LOL

It's true, the button was the very best part of your post. I love it! And I'm going to do 12 days of Christmas something because I really like the idea, but I'm undecided if it will be blog-related or not. Thanks for the motivation.
